Description

Located in the heart of the charming seaside village of Portballintrae, this welcoming cottage is perfect for families or friends looking for a relaxing holiday along a stretch of the breathtaking Causeway Coast. The sandy beach of Portballintrae is 0.5 miles away, where you can go walking, kayaking, or paddleboarding. Portballintrae is a hidden gem steeped in history and unique architecture, which includes thatched cottages and Georgian and Victorian buildings. Plenty of delicious eateries allow you to try traditional Irish dishes, from soda bread to seafood chowder. The iconic Giant’s Causeway, an area of 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, is just 3.5 miles away and makes for an unforgettable day out.

Step into this comfortable, contemporary cottage, and you will find a well-designed, bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where you can relax together after a day of discovery along the coast or in the picturesque countryside. Inviting seating has been thoughtfully arranged so you can either take in the outside vista through the glass doors or watch a movie together on the TV. The walls showcase some lovely pictures reflecting the local seaside and countryside. The kitchen space is compact but includes everything you need to rustle up some tasty treats to enjoy at mealtimes while taking in the view. The three double bedrooms have attractive furnishings and vibrant splashes of colour – one features an additional set of bunk beds, and one has an en-suite shower room. The other two bedrooms share a family bathroom. Step out of the lounge area through the sliding doors into a generous, shared courtyard garden. Unwind on the comfortable garden furniture, fire up the BBQ, and savour a delicious al fresco meal in the fresh air.

Swimmers and surfers must spend a day discovering the surf and the long, golden sands of Portstewart Strand, 15.5 miles away. Nature lovers can head to Dunseverick Falls (5 miles), and for a taste of the local history, visit the 18th-century Old Bushmills Distillery (1.5 miles).

Reviews

Beautiful view from living room. Bedrooms small- the door of the en-suite bumps the bed and won’t open fully. Washing machine and tumble dryer are not in kitchen as described in details, but in an outhouse. “Welcome pack” was a few tea bags, shortbread and chocolates. No bath in the “family” bathroom.

Mrs R,

Lovely house with fabulous views of the countryside and in a quiet place
