Description
Large families and groups seeking a relaxing holiday on the Hook Peninsula need look no further than this detached bungalow, which sits less than 100 metres from Sandeel Bay and 3 miles from the village of Fethard-on-Sea. Enjoying panoramic bay views and featuring an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner and spacious garden, this cottage is a convenient base for bird watchers, walkers and water sports lovers.
The single-storey cottage stands on a peninsula crisscrossed by country lanes and farmland, overlooking rugged cliffs that tumble down into pretty beaches and rocky coves. Its large interior is flooded with natural light throughout the day thanks to its dual-aspect windows, with each room laid out to encourage quality time together. The lounge/kitchen/diner features French doors, a wood burner and comfortable sofas, with plenty of workspace for foodies and a large dining table for indulgent meals. The two shower rooms on the ground floor are perfect for recharging, while the three bedrooms - a king-size, a twin and a bunk room - are perfect for diverse and cross-generational parties. The 180-degree views from the spacious lawned garden are best enjoyed over an al fresco meal, with plenty of space for children to play in the fresh air, too.
Sandheel Bay (within 100 metres), like so many of the beaches that pepper the Hook Peninsula, is ideal for sunbathing, swimming and sea fishing. Fethard-on-Sea, the starting point for many walking routes, lies only 3 miles from the cottage, while Slade Fishing Harbour and Hook Lighthouse (the oldest in Europe) are within 3.5 miles. For a longer day out, head to Ballyhack (10 miles) and take the car ferry over to Waterford.
