Description

Explore coast and countryside then kick back at this characterful cottage set at the heart of the historic Hook Peninsula. Pet friendly, it’s close to one of Wexford’s best beaches and just 3 miles from Fethard-on-Sea. With a large garden and welcoming interiors, this two-bedroomed home-from-home is one the whole family will love.

Amid the fertile farmland of Ireland’s ‘sunniest corner’, this sympathetically restored stone property promises a complete escape for a party of five and one canine companion. Located along a quiet country lane, its traditional façade has a contemporary twist – a striking glass-walled porch welcoming guests inside. Once over the threshold you’ll find a fusion of original features and modern must-haves, starting in the kitchen/diner where sleek cabinets and counters complement a rustic-style dining suite and dresser. All the essentials for easy-living are here; after your meal, relocate to the restful sitting room to watch TV or unwind on your choice of comfortable seating – the central heating will keep everyone cosy whatever the weather. When it’s time to sleep, the two bedrooms upstairs are similarly inviting; one has a double bed and the other has both a double and a single. A bathroom and a shower room complete the comfort for all. Outside, there are gardens front and back, with furniture for al fresco dining and a large lawn for games.

Around a mile away, the neighbouring Dollar and Booley Bays offer lovely views across the estuary, especially at sunset. Less than 3 miles north of the latter, Duncannon has an idyllic fishing harbour sheltered by 16th-century Duncannon Fort. Head 3 miles in the opposite direction and you’ll reach Fethard-on-Sea, a small coastal village with welcoming pubs, restaurants and more magnificent beaches, while 6 miles south, Hook Lighthouse – the oldest intact operational lighthouse in the world – is a must-see.

Reviews

A very recently restored Irish farmhouse. Very quiet and remote. Tranquility was a positive factor.

Rev H,

I loved this beautiful cottage as did my dog Daisy, who enjoyed exploring the back garden. Only a few minutes drive into Fethard and to a variety of beaches. Very comfortable home and I really relaxed here. Quiet and peaceful and near to village life when you need a break from the quiet :) Loved Carnivan Bay, Booley Bay, Dollar Bay and Tintern Woods & Abbey. Grálinn is a lovely cafe in Fethard open Thurs-Sun. Giorgio's Greek restaurant was lovely. Good coffee down at MeanBean at BaginBun Beach. Would highly recommend this holiday cottage.

Ms M,

Power's Cottage is beautiful and in an ideal location tucked down a quiet country lane but just a few minutes drive from stunning beaches and Fethard on Sea. It was easy to find the property, the key was left in a lock box and communication with the owner was easy and responsive. We will definitely be back.

Ms K,

A comfortable, well furnished and superbly finished cottage. When there was a problem with the heating, the owner came out very promptly and replaced a blown fuse.

Mr S,

Charming well equipped house in a beautiful setting.

Ms M,
