Description

Whether you are planning a peaceful getaway or a taste of adventure, this appealing, stone-clad cottage in the charming village of Duncannon offers a great holiday base. Sleeping six guests, and ideal for a large family or friends to share, it is set in the heart of the village. A fine sandy beach is just 250 metres away and a wealth of outdoor attractions within easy reach includes coastal trails, dolphin spotting cruises and a historic lighthouse.

The end-of-terrace cottage is attractively furnished, with contemporary leather seating in the bright living room. A lovely period fireplace houses an open fire, with driftwood decorations and a ship’s light adding a nautical touch. The roomy, cottage-style kitchen and dining area are full of light from large patio doors opening onto a small garden. Upstairs are a pretty bathroom and three delightful bedrooms. They comprise a super-king-size with an en-suite shower, and two doubles. Three folding beds are also available. Outside, the enclosed garden has decking with pretty blue outdoor furniture.

Picturesque Duncannon has independent shops, cafes and restaurants, an art gallery, crazy golf and a children’s playground with a zip line, along with tennis and basketball courts. The sheltered, mile-long golden beach overlooking the beautiful Waterford Estuary is a popular spot for kitesurfing and has an on-site watersports school. Enjoy a snack from one of then beachfront eateries before taking a walk along the Norman Way, a scenic heritage coastal trail. Or hire a bike and take a spin along the long-distance Eurovelo cycle trail which follows a parallel route. Catch a boat from Duncannon harbour for a dolphin and whale spotting voyage or to explore the remarkable Hook Lighthouse (14 miles by road), said to be the oldest in the world.
