Description

This bright and contemporary cottage set in the countryside of County Monaghan, near the border to County Louth, sleeps up to four guests and two canine companions. Boasting an outdoor space, balcony and two spacious bedrooms, this property is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding nature walking trails, coast, and quaint Irish villages.

Step inside and find yourself in the airy neutral-toned lounge/diner with wooden furnishings and a splash of colour. The wooden dining table sits close to the window and a plump leather sofa and two armchairs are around the wood burner-effect electric fire and TV. Continue into the farmhouse-style kitchen with wooden worktops and neutral tones throughout – here, you’ll find everything you need for an easy getaway, including a washer/dryer and dishwasher. Also on the ground floor is a shower room and a double bedroom. Return to the lounge and climb the stairs to reach a double with a sloped ceiling and balcony. Outside is a courtyard with a bistro set which is shared with neighbouring properties.

Unwind in the countryside while staying close to the picturesque village of Inniskeen (2 miles) where you can stroll along the river, play pitch, and follow the Patrick Kavanagh Trail to discover the beauty spots that inspired the famous poet who was born in the village. History enthusiasts should seek out the ancient Clochafarmore Standing Stone (7 miles) or visit the Cu Chulainn's Castle (9.5 miles). Meet the animals at Long Acre Alpacas (13.5 miles) or spend an afternoon at the Ardee Golf Club (10.5 miles). Head to the coastal village of Blackrock (12.5 miles) for a swim in the sea or a meal out.
