There are also several circular walks around Lough Allen (4 miles), encompassing the Leitrim Way and Miner’s Way. History enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to Arigna Mining Experience (10 miles), where you can take a guided tour of the underground coal mines and learn about the region’s fascinating industrial past. The traditional Irish town of Drumshanbo is 12 miles away, and offers a good range of cosy pubs and independent shops. Drumkeeran is an ideal place to base yourself when exploring the neighbouring counties in the North West. Within a 45 minute drive you can visit Lough Key Forest Park, King House, Strokestown House, Shed Distillery, The Arigna Mining Experience, Lisadell House, The Marble Arch Caves, and the Cavan Burren Park as well as many beautiful beaches and golf courses.
