Description
This elegant country house is an excellent base for an active getaway with family and friends in County Kilkenny. Avid hikers should relish the opportunity to scale Slievenamon Mountain where the views from the relatively flat summit are breathtaking. Back at home, the property encourages guests to relax in the seamless blend of modern and antique features which give the space character, including the charming wood burner.
Offering a warm welcome is the living room which has beautiful original windows, an impressive fireplace and dramatic decor which will transport you back in time. Next door, the kitchen is decorated with warming colours with natural light pouring in through the windows and patio doors. Here you’ll find everything you need to prepare a feast at mealtimes, alongside a six-seater dining table. What’s more, there is a second lounge which features an antique dining table for more formal settings alongside a wonderful wood burner. The first of the bedrooms is located on the ground floor, featuring a double bed and an en-suite shower room for added privacy. Upstairs are the final three bedrooms, which includes two en-suite double bedrooms and the convenient family room which is equipped with a double bed and a single bed, adjoining a Jack and Jill bathroom. Outside, the generous lawned garden is a great place to relax with a book or for an al fresco dining experience, soaking in the serenity of the surrounding area.
The market town of Callan itself (less than 1 mile) has much to offer, including a good selection of eateries when you don’t fancy cooking at home, and a golf club boasting a beautiful 18-hole parkland course. Further afield, immerse yourself in the whimsical woodland of Woodstock Gardens and Arboretum (19 miles) where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the selection of gardens which date back to the 1740s as well as walking trails through the ancient trees.
