Description

Discover the magical beauty of South West Ireland from a traditional stone-fronted cottage with breathtaking views across Kenmare Bay towards the Caha Mountains. The detached property offers a delightful holiday retreat in a glorious landscape for a family of four or friends sharing. Set in peaceful countryside, with wonderful scenic walks from the doorstep, the cottage is within 6 miles of colourful Kenmare. This charming small town has excellent restaurants serving fresh-caught seafood, independent shops and traditional Irish bars. The sand and shingle bathing beach at Coss Strand is just 2 miles away. As the cottage is on an elevated site, it is unsuitable for children under 12.

Drink in glorious views from the spacious, open-plan living area, filled with light from double patio doors and windows. This airy space houses a cottage-style dining table and pretty dresser, along with a comfortable chesterfield and easy chairs. The well-appointed kitchen has all you need to rustle up meals using local produce, and the cottage has underfloor hearting throughout, perfect for cooler nights. There are two inviting bedrooms: a pretty double with an en-suite bathroom and a bright twin with an en-suite shower. Outside is a patio with garden furniture, where you can enjoy the panorama of water and mountains.

Follow Kenmare’s heritage trail to see its brightly painted houses, and browse the weekly Wednesday market for artisan food, local crafts, plants and more. Visit atmospheric Molly Gallivan’s 200-year-old cottage and traditional farm for a glimpse of life in rural Ireland before the days of electricity. Enjoy a seal-spotting boat trip across Kenmare Bay and take time to explore the rugged coast of the renowned Ring of Kerry. Encircled by Ireland’s highest mountains, its highlights include. the 6th century Skellig monastery.
