Description
Set on the edge of the world, this Galway cottage is surrounded by 360-degree sea views and the stunning Mweelrea Mountains, making it an enviable base from which to explore Ireland’s coast. This remote retreat hosts up to seven guests, offering spacious rooms inside and a generous outdoor area to relax and socialise. You’ll truly feel serene and separated from the world, making it an ideal choice for those eager to reset with the sights and sounds of the sea surrounding them. Step outside to explore walks along the coastline, ball games on sandy shores, and endless outdoor excursions in Connemara National Park, about 6.5 miles away.
Warm and welcoming, the property feels like a true home-from-home, with cosy interiors and large windows that offer breathtaking views of the surroundings. Let family life buzz around the large kitchen and adjacent dining room, where you can plan activities and pack lunches for the day ahead. The lounge invites nights of relaxation with comfy sofas, armchairs, an open fire, and a TV/DVD for cosy entertainment. A utility room with a downstairs WC is also on this floor, and upstairs, you’ll find three bedrooms, two of which are en-suite. Outside, a decked terrace provides a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the sound of the crashing waves.
Discover the ruins of Renvyle Castle (300 metres) while wandering down to the water’s edge. Renvyle Beach, a beautiful cove about 2 miles away, offers white sand and crystal-clear water perfect for swimming. The Mweelrea Mountains of County Mayo provide a stunning backdrop, and you can drive 10 miles for a challenging hike or mountain biking tour. In between the counties, the vast waters of Killary Fjord stretch out between undulating hills; visit Killary Harbour (13 miles) to embark on a scenic fjord boat tour.
