Description
If you’re in search of a beautiful base for a family walking holiday, this characterful cottage is a great option boasting an open fire for cosy evenings of relaxation. The property is situated at the base of the Maumturk Mountains which peak at 667 metres and offer sublime views from the summit. This ensures that there are a whole host of routes available from your doorstep ranging in difficulty from mountain climbs to leisurely lakeside trails.
At the heart of the home is the open-plan living room/kitchen/diner which retains much of its original charm with an exposed stone wall and a wood-clad ceiling. The open fire warms the space with a gentle crackle, surrounded by comfortable chairs for all the family to gather. Just a few steps away, the kitchen has a traditional feel with warm hues of natural wood and terracotta tiles, ensuring you have everything you need to cook up a storm whilst gazing over the rural views out of the window. Bedroom one boasts a double bed and an en-suite shower room for added convenience, whilst bedroom two is well-equipped for families featuring both a double bed and a single bed. Completing the property is the tasteful bathroom with a bathtub for long evening soaks. Surrounded by far-reaching countryside, the garden benefits from awe-inspiring views from every angle, creating a wonderful setting for al fresco breakfasts and dinners.
Less than a mile away you’ll find the beauty of Inagh Lake, one of Connemara’s most beautiful bodies of water surrounded by romantic, rural countryside. The photography opportunities here are fantastic, as is the fly fishing with huts along the shore and the opportunity to catch salmon, sea trout and brown trout. For an invigorating day out on a hike with breathtaking sights to see, why not walk a section of the Western Way?
