Description
Set amid woodland and with stunning views of the Maam Valley, this secluded single-storey cottage is the perfect place for couples or small families looking to escape the everyday among the incredible landscapes of Galway. Full of atmosphere and original features, the property is perfectly located for outdoor adventures, from walking to water sports, followed by quiet evenings in the garden or by the wood burner.
The spacious kitchen/diner is the heart of this gorgeous stone property, with a grand, apex ceiling, exposed beams and a quarry-tiled floor. Here, you’ll have everything you need to create tasty holiday meals, including a microwave and an air fryer, plus a large table where you can all dine together. Next door, the welcoming lounge continues the theme, with a variety of seating on its tiled floor, authentic exposed stone and a huge wood burner in a chimney. The two bedrooms, a king-size and a double, are full of character, with wooden floors and exposed beams, plus ample storage. A bathroom completes the interior. Explore the beautiful grounds outside, which comprise 18 acres and include large ponds (please supervise children) as well as garden furniture on a shingle patio for relaxing and al fresco meals.
Set in a remote valley beside Maumturk Mountain, the cottage is 7 miles from the picturesque village of Leenane, which sits at the head of Ireland’s only fjord, and 10 miles from Cornamona, on the shores of Lough Corrib, which is famous for salmon and trout fishing, boating and hill walking. In the small village of Maam, 2.5 miles, you’ll find a shop, pub and restaurant, and the nearest sandy beach is at Lough Nafooey, 6 miles away.
