Description
Perched in an elevated location and surrounded by woodland, this spacious cottage benefits from uninterrupted views over Lough Swilly and the surrounding countryside. Accessed via a steep, shared driveway, this is one of two cottages at this peaceful site, which is around 1 mile from Rathmullan and its sweeping sandy beach. Sleeping six guests in four bedrooms, this dog-friendly cottage is ideal for families and friends looking to explore County Donegal’s Fanad Peninsula.
Two steps lead up to the front door and into this inviting bungalow. Guests are greeted by a spacious and luminous lounge with dual-aspect windows, wooden flooring, warm colours, and an open fire. Combining comfort with style, it’s the ideal setting for relaxing evenings in. The light-filled kitchen/dining room is well-equipped for preparing meals while the dining table sits in a corner with windows on two sides. Along the hallway, two spacious double bedrooms and two comfortable single rooms provide a restful night’s sleep. An en suite in one of the double rooms plus a family bathroom offer comfort and convenience. Outside, dine alfresco on the picnic table or sip a morning cuppa beneath the covered veranda.
Set on the western shore of Lough Swilly, Rathmullan has a selection of shops and restaurants and a 2-mile sandy beach. You can also hop on a ferry to cross the water to Buncrana or try your hand at sailing and water sports. It’s a great location for visiting the Glenveagh National Park (20.5 miles) and the beautiful Fanad Head Lighthouse (18 miles).
