Description

This handsome, detached cottage occupies a serene and secluded rural location, set against a backdrop of rugged mountains and sweeping countryside. Sleeping six guests in three bedrooms, this pet-friendly property is ideal for families and groups of friends seeking tranquillity and outdoors adventures. The surrounding area is rich in things to do, from the pretty seaside hamlet of Bruckless to the fishing port of Killybegs and glorious Fintra Beach.

Arranged over two storeys, this stone-fronted cottage is warm and welcoming, its cosy interiors blending rustic charm with modern amenities. The heart of the cottage is the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a bright yet cosy space with windows on three sides capturing the best of the light. This sociable room features a large, country-style kitchen, a dining table next to a window, and a small seating area, and is warmed by a wood burner. A second lounge with an open fire offers space to spread out and relax, and the ground floor is also home to a utility room, the family bathroom and one double bedroom, which is ideal for those with mobility issues. Upstairs, a second double room and a twin room sit beneath the eaves with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. This delightful property benefits from a garden with outdoor furniture and a BBQ, allowing guests to dine alfresco in warm weather.

The scenic hamlet of Bruckless (1.5 miles) has a handful of amenities, including a shop, pub, restaurant and pony-trekking centre. More provisions and attractions can be found at Killybegs (6.5 miles), a fishing port on the Wild Atlantic Way. From here, you can hire a boat to explore the coastline or learn about the town on its Heritage Walk. The coast holds many treasures too, including Fintra Beach (8 miles) and spectacular Slieve League Cliffs, which are among the highest sea cliffs in Europe (20 miles).

The cottage is so comfortable and warm. it had a dream kitchen and the owner gives fresh eggs from her hens on arrival plus fuel for the stove. the rooms are cost and warm with panoramic views of the woodland, flora and fauna and her own goats that are very friendly. it's peaceful, quiet and so serene and is located close to all the lovely beaches and local towns. it's a great base for a perfect holiday. the owner is a lovely helpful lady. I wish we had another week there.

Ms B,

We had a wonderful week in Calhame. Berdieke was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. The location was perfect for exploring the beaches and great amenities in Donegal. The house was comfortable and everything we needed was available to us. We had two children with us aged 5 and 8 - they loved the space and the hens and goats. It is so peaceful and quiet we really relaxed and chilled out.

Ms L,

Peaceful beautiful cottage with beaches galore in all directions.

Mr M,

Found the cottage lovely and in a great location. We will be booking this again as it was central to all our needs. Thank you.
