This quirky small cottage with cosy interiors boasting an open fire, charming bedrooms in the eaves and exposed stonework is an excellent dog-friendly base for a small family or couple seeking a countryside getaway. Visit the local historic landmarks, quaint Irish towns, or the Killarney National Park.

Step inside and find yourself in the lounge with an open fire, an exposed stone feature wall and a pop of colour throughout the soft furnishings. Continue into the compact kitchen/diner which contains a dining table for four and a fitted ‘L’-shaped kitchen unit with wooden cabinets and dark surface tops. Also on the ground floor is a family bathroom, a utility room, and a double bedroom. Upstairs, are two cosy single bedrooms with sloped wooden-panelled ceilings. Outside, you’ll find a partially enclosed garden with mountain views, a patio and furniture.

During your getaway in the countryside village of Boherbue in County Cork, you could stop for a tipple at the local bar and easily pick up essentials from the village shops (all within 0.5 miles). Stroll along the River Blackwater which sits on the border between County Cork and County Kerry (7.5 miles). Spend an afternoon in the historic town of Kanturk and stop at the dramatic ruins of Kanturk Castle (10.5 miles). Take a picnic to Island Wood Newmarket National Forest (7.5 miles) or venture further afield to find the scenic lakes, the Tonic Waterfall and hiking trails of Killarney National Park (23 miles).
