Description

With lovely sea and mountain views and a huge garden in which to relax, this welcoming detached cottage is an ideal choice for a tranquil rural escape with family or friends. Just 400 metres from friendly Goleen village with its shops, pubs and places to eat, it’s in a great location for days at the beach or exploring the coast and countryside of Cork’s Mizen Peninsula.

Enjoy getting together in the large, open-plan living space of this carefully designed, single-storey cottage. As the cook makes the most of the kitchen, which includes a microwave and dishwasher, other guests can be chatting at the dining table or relaxing in front of the open fire. Warm colours, pretty curtains and soft lighting make this room feel truly comfortable. When it’s time for a good night’s sleep, the three bedrooms are similarly cosy. There are two doubles (one with an en-suite bathroom), a twin, and a family bathroom. If you feel like some fresh air, stroll through the half-acre private garden or take your food outside and enjoy an al fresco meal on the patio.

The cottage is set between Crookhaven, Barley Cove and Ballyrisode beaches (all less than 5 miles away), in the heart of a Special European Area of Conservation. All kinds of outdoor activities are available nearby, including golf, sea angling, horse riding, kayaking and surfing, and this is one of the best places in Europe for marine and coastal wildlife watching and birding. At Mizen Head (5.5 miles), visit the Irish Lights Signal Station and cross the impressive arched bridge, looking out for seals, whales, dolphins, kittiwakes, gannets and choughs. Or, for a change, head to the picturesque harbour town of Bantry, 20.5 miles away, for an array of shops and great places to eat and drink.
