Description
This attractive, two-storey cottage boasts a light and airy interior and makes for a convenient base for an active family holiday on Ireland’s southern coast, especially given the area is a haven for walkers, naturists and water sports lovers. The centre of Glandore (100 metres) has shops and pubs befitting a sleepy fishing village, while its eponymous harbour is a haven for windsurfers and sailors. The area is dotted with other pretty villages including Leap and Union Hall (both within 2 miles) that can be reached by following scenic footpaths and trails overlooking the tidal estuary.
The instantly identifiable cottage is approached via a long and narrow road that overlooks the harbour. Its practical layout and naturally lit interior give it a homely ambience, especially in the welcoming living areas. The social heart of the home is the stunning, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which is basked with the natural light that pours through the windows that reveal breathtaking ocean views. Unwind in the comfortable lounge space, made even cosier by the wood burner and TV, and when stomachs rumble, move through to the well-appointed kitchen to whip up holiday feasts and enjoy them at the window-side dining table. When day turns to night, walk through to the two delightful bedrooms – one double and one twin bedroom – that are served by the convenient and refreshing shower room.
Outside, make full use of the sun-drenched veranda that boasts splendid views of the ocean and estuary ahead. Furnished with a table and chairs, this makes for a wonderful spot to enjoy quiet morning coffees and al fresco evening meals.
