Description

Sitting above Roaring Water Bay just over 150 metres from the nearest beach, this spacious cottage makes a perfect rural retreat for friends or family looking for somewhere peaceful to stay, with a garden and a wood burner. Your four-legged friend is welcome here too, in the ideal spot for hiking, water sports and discovering County Cork.

The traditional cottage has been furnished with everything you need for a comfy, relaxing stay, with traditional wooden fixtures and furniture. Step into the lovely, light lounge, with a wooden floor, a cosy wood burner, and a TV. It leads through to the dining room/conservatory, which has amazing panoramic views and patio doors. You’ll find everything you need to cook tasty meals in the kitchen, which has country-style cupboards. There are two bedrooms, an attractive double bedroom (5ft bed) with an en-suite shower room, and a sweet twin bedroom with a wardrobe, as well as a family bathroom with a bath and shower. Outside, you can sit at the picnic bench on the patio and soak up the views, there’s also a large lawn area.

Get out and explore on foot, walk to Ballydehob and back (1.5 miles each way), a charming village with a selection of restaurants, or do a circular walk to the Ring Fort. Hire a canoe in Bantry (10 miles) and explore by water, go kayaking or windsurfing. You may see seals on the island in the bay, and you can book a whale-watching trip from Baltimore (13 miles). What a wonderful place! We saw seals on the rocks in front of the house! It's a very quiet and peaceful home for holidays! It's very clean and there are lovely items like candles and flowers that gave us a welcome-feeling! The hosts Bernie and Michael are very friendly and lovely people! We will come back again!!!

Ms K,

Amazing cottage with outstanding views and so very peaceful. Loved watching & feeding the birds. Low light pollution gives an amazing view of the night sky - who knew there were that many stars? Great location with so many interesting and beautiful places to visit within an half an hour drive either way. Michael and Bernie are very hospitable and knowledgeable of the area without being intrusive. We had an amazing week and can't wait to return another time.

Ms J,

Great hosts. We enjoyed talking with them and getting tips on where to shop and eat. The cottage is really nice, the beds comfortable and it was great to wake up in the morning to a beautiful view of the lake. You can even take an excellent walkabout from the cottage. Skibbereen has good restaurants and shopping but we didn't enjoy it due to the narrow streets and construction downtown. Ballydehob is small and doesn't have much to offer. Our favourite was Schull, it has a car park on entrance to town, several good restaurants, shopping and a grocery store. One of our favourite things was charting a fishing boat at Bantry and deep sea fishing. We caught so many fish we left over half with the boat captain. A visit to Blarney Castle and Garden is well worth the trip to Cork. Warning you have to be in good health to climb the narrow spiral steps to kiss the Blarney Stone and the Garden is spectacular. My wife was behind me and had to push me up the narrow steps, she counted 109 steps. If you have claustrophobia don't do it. A great time was had and we are looking forward to our next visit with the hosts.
