Description
Situated at the head of the Glen Lough Valley and cradled by the Caha Mountains, this traditional stone farmhouse promises a retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Its idyllic location at the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty makes this the perfect sanctuary for families and groups of friends yearning for peace and a touch of adventure. After thrilling days exploring tarns and waterfalls, or engaging in water sports at Adrigole Harbour, this cosy abode is the ideal place to rest and recharge.
Lovingly restored to blend original features with modern comforts, this farmhouse has a relaxed rural elegance with warm woods and bold colours combining for a truly welcoming ambiance. Set in a spacious, barn-style room, the kitchen and dining room form a sociable hub where you can gather to prepare food while you sip a glass of wine and chat about your day. Set beneath a heavy beamed ceiling with an assortment of comfy seating and a warming wood burner, the lounge invites relaxation after a day on the trails. When bedtime calls, take your pick from a double, a twin and a single bedroom in the main house, or an additional bedroom with a set of bunk beds and a trundle bed in the annex. There’s a shower and WC in the annex, along with a family bathroom, a separate WC and a utility room in the main house, while garden furniture is provided outside so you can sip your evening drink and watch the stars overhead.
Wander out from your front door and immerse yourself in nature with picturesque trails all around this secluded property. There’s an abundance of outdoor activities such as horse riding, cycling, hiking, hill walking, fishing, wild swimming and birdwatching to enjoy. The waterside village of Adrigole (3.5 miles) has a handful of amenities and a pretty harbour to explore, while just past the village you’ll find the Mare’s Tail waterfall (6 miles), the highest in Ireland.
