Description

Sitting in the gorgeous little seaside village of Cushendun, this picture-perfect country cottage with sea views is a fabulous base if you’re exploring the wild and breezy splendour of County Antrim. Sleeping six people over three bedrooms, it’s the perfect accommodation choice for families or groups of friends who want to experience the peaceful pace of life on the Antrim coast together. Start your day with a refreshing 0.5-mile walk to Cushendun Beach to enjoy a little quiet time by the sea, and in the evening, come home to your cottage to fire up the BBQ and indulge in an al fresco seafood dinner with your loved ones.

Take a few steps up to the front door of this traditional cottage, step inside, and you’ll be welcomed by a homely interior that oozes relaxation. Make your way to the living area and take a little time out to throw a log on the open fire and admire the cottage’s pretty textiles, wooden detailing and homely design touches. When it’s time to eat, head to the large farmhouse-style kitchen/diner to cook up some dinner. Gather everyone around the dining table to eat, or head outside to dine alfresco in the courtyard garden while you soak up the uninterrupted sea views. After dinner, make your way to the living area to slip onto a sofa by the crackling open fire. At the end of the day, there are three lovely bedrooms to choose from – two sweet twins and one elegant double. A stylish en-suite shower room and one bathroom with a walk in shower (no bath) complete the layout.

Get the gang together to explore the enchanting Woodland Faerie Trail (1.5 miles). Spot tiny homes intricately crafted from twigs, leaves and stones as you escape into a delightful world of Irish folklore and fairytales. Alternatively, grab your hiking boots and head to Croaghaun (12 miles). Standing at an impressive 2,192 feet and boasting a rewarding view of the Atlantic Ocean, the wild Connemara landscape, and neighbouring islands like Inishturk and Clare Island, it’s well worth the climb.

Reviews

The cottage was very comfortable and cosy, we were 2 couples spending a week together so it was perfect to have a bedroom and a bathroom downstairs and 2 bedrooms and an en suite upstairs. Everything you needed was provided, Pat stopped in to see us when arrived and checked that we were happy with everything and showed us how yo use hot water, heating etc. Though Pat lived within 30 yards, and there is also 3 other cottages, it was very private and non intrusive. There was more than adequate crockery for 6, a table and chairs for 6, as well as seating in the living room. The views are stunning and we loved the donkey who scared us with her braying the first time we walked past as she was hiding, she loved the attention! Just to be aware if you want to walk out anywhere the hill is very steep, though it didn't stop us from walking it once or twice daily and we found it easier to walk up after an evening at McBride's the friendly pub down in the village. The village, along with the pub has a great little coffee shop that serves breakfast and lunch, including vegetarian and gluten free, a local shop, a lovely beach walk, as well as a riverside walk. Only thing that would be the icing on the cake a dishwasher in the property, though we knew ahead of time there wasn't one. We would 100% recommend a stay here.
